A social media deep-dive into Jeremy Hayward-Thomas

If you, like us, have been stuck in coronavirus shutdown and bored you may have also become obsessed with the Hilaria/Hilary Baldwin fiasco. To summarise a long grift, Hilary Hayward-Thomas (a rich white American woman) decided somewhere around 2011 to rename herself as Hilaria and took on a Spanish persona complete with stereotypical flairs such as an obsession with paella. Originally hailing from Boston, she moved to NYU and became intentionally vague about her past and background. She met and married Alec Baldwin and had 5 small children, and adopted a very active social media presence around their bilingual household.

One of the interesting asides to this story is that her brother, who hasn’t spoken to the media, has moved to the island of Mallorca and married an actual Spanish woman. He also gave her away in her wedding ceremony, rather than her father, which piqued the curiosity of many of us.

The main picture that the media has been circulating of him does look ‘mediterrean’ but we had questions!

So, sit back and let’s becoming weirdly obsessed with siblings of C-list celebrities.

Our first question was, does Jeremy actually look super Spanish (to the extent that’s a thing)?
This was a question for us as Hilaria seems to have intentionally dyed her hair darker and spray tanned, but her kids are super blond haired and blue eyed.

Having a look at his wife’s page, we get this family picture. So I think we can say he looks like an normal white guy. (Adorable pic BTW)

Next, does he live in Spain?
The answer is two-fold, he seems to have 2 facebook accounts. He has one which has the first picture as a profile picture but that doesn’t have his wife as a friend (but does have his parents as friends) and a second that has his wife but not his parents as friends. His wife definitely seems to live locally and there are pics/vids of him trying burgers at a local vegan burger joint on the island so he does seem to be around and with his kid.

His friends on the second account are a mix of his wifes family and local people as well as a smattering from the US which looks pretty genuine. He only has 84 friends so he’s not a Hilaria style social media eagle, they look like people who he genuinely interacts with and knows. Her social media account also looks very local and genuine. They both follow and post a lot on animal rights, rescues and veganism.

His second page brings up his experience in DJing in parties in the Boston area growing up, so he’s definitely not trying to pull off the same story about living between countries or spending sigificant mounts of time in Spain before he moved there as an adult.

Interestingly they both don’t seem to live anywhere near their family of birth (her mother looks to be based in Valencia) which doesn’t say anything as such — but hey, maybe they have bonded at least in part over bonkers families of births and tried to get physical distance. He also doesn’t have any friends with his parent’s surnames of Hayward or Thomas which either means he’s trying to keep below the media radar or the whole family on that side is a hard pass.

Do we get any clue from his social media of of who his sister’s ‘Spanish’ relatives who came to her wedding might be?
Not entirely, but Spicy Pepino and I suspect it’s a combination of her parents friends and colleagues from their health clinic and some of the extended family of Maria Jose.

So, we don’t get a lot of information from his pages but I think we can say he’s at least substantially less bonkers and fame hungry than Hilaria.
